I started my bachelor of civil engineering in 2017 in the University of Technology in Gdańsk concentrating on transport engineering. Later on in the same university I started my master degree. My thesis focused on accelerated tests of the fatigue performance of asphalts and mastics. After defending my master I continued my educational path and in February 2023 I started my PhD at the University of Granada in Spain.
I’m Ana Karoliny Lemos Bezerra, a Civil Engineer from the Federal University of Cariri in Brazil. I have a master’s degree in Transportation Engineering from the Federal University of Ceará in Brazil. I’m currently doing a PhD in transportation infrastructure, through the CIRCOPAV (Circular and Connected Pavements for Carbon-Neutral and Digital Roads) project at the École Nationale des Travaux Publics de l’Etat (ENTPE) in France. My areas of interest involve Transport Infrastructure, with emphasis on Materials Characterization and paving structures with non-destructive technologies.
I like new professional and personal experiences and challenges. That’s why, during my master’s, I did a internship at the École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS) of the University of Quebec in Montreal, Canada. Now that I’m doing my PhD, I’ve had the opportunity to come to France to improve my knowledge in the development of non-destructive technologies applied to paving. It’s also an opportunity to get to know a new language, culture and people.
Lucas studied Civil Engineering at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) in Brazil, with a focus on the mechanical characterization of asphalt mixtures. In 2023, he completed his Master’s in Transportation Engineering at UFC with an emphasis on the fatigue and moisture damage of asphaltic materials. Since October 2023, he has been a PhD researcher associate at the Institute for Pavements Engineering (ISBS) at the University of Braunschweig (TUBS) under the supervision of Prof. Michael P. Wistuba. The focus of his research is the digitalization of roads using different sensors in asphalt pavements within the «Connected Pavements» concept.
Sher Muhammad Nizamani is a researcher with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering. Currently pursuing his PhD at the University of Parma, he is involved in the project on Sensors Network for Smart Self-Sustaining Interactive Infrastructures as part of the MSCA-funded CIRCOPAV project. His research aims to optimize maintenance planning by analyzing pavement lifespan through data analysis techniques using sensor and historical records.
Hamed Hasani holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering and is currently pursuing his PhD at Parma University. His doctoral research, part of the MSCA-funded CIRCOPAV project, focuses on «Dynamic Interactive Digital Monitoring Systems for Bridge Management.» Hamed has conducted extensive research in structural health monitoring and structural rehabilitation. His current work emphasizes innovative methodologies for wireless bridge monitoring, utilizing operational modal analysis (OMA) and advanced signal processing techniques. This research aims to develop a virtual replica of bridges, providing real-time data on structural integrity, which is crucial for improved decision-making, safety, and reliability.
Walter graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering in 2018. In 2021, he completed a Master in Business Administration. Since 2023, he has been pursuing a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at the University of Granada, Spain, as part of the CIRCOPAV project. Its investigation focuses on possible ways to reduce the Urban Heat Island Effect. The main goal is to design an urban asphalt mixture to mitigate this phenomenon.
From 2018 to 2023, he worked as a researcher at the Road Materials Laboratory of the “Universidad Católica de Guayaquil”, where he has participated in the development of research projects, and has been responsible for quality control tests of asphalt mixtures as part of the technical services provided.
As a consultant in Ecuador, he has worked as the director of assembly, production, and manager of asphalt mixing plants at EQUITRANSA S.A., participating in several paving projects.
